So, we first started out trying to get the toy out of the box. Impossible ! You have to destroy the box to get it open, even the box is so poorly constructed. Inside, the cheap carbon holding the pieces was torn in attempts to open. Then of course I saw the key words "MADE IN CHINA". Have not even started to play and already want to return it, but of course you can't now that the box is destroyed. Save your money! A total rip-off.

Excellent for an introduction to the Girder and Panel building sets. These are fantastic for any kid who loves constructing buildings -- especially realistic modern office, warehouse, industrial, or railroad buildings in HO scale. This set builds a fire station or other buildings that can be used with Matchbox, Hot Wheels, and HO-scale cars and trucks.
The manufacturer recommends ages 6 and up, and I think that's about right. My five-year-old girl built this set and variations on it (including an animal hospital) with a little bit of help. The Girder and Panel sets do require a degree of manual dexterity to fit the beams into the columns.
You make the frame of the building with footing boards and plastic posts and cross beams. (They look like miniature steel girders.) Once the frame is complete, you put on the flexible-but-stiff plastic exterior panels. In this set, they are nicely printed to represent brick walls. The instruction booklet shows how to build the fire station, but of course you can build other configurations (see my uploaded photos for examples).
This set includes two 6"x9" footing boards, 24 columns (posts), 25 beams (according to the booklet; mine included 34 beams!), 12 studs (short columns), 17 wall panels, 6 roof panels, some flags and signs, a booklet and a nice plastic storage case.
The quality of the pieces is excellent -- better than the 1960's Kenner Girder and Panel sets some of us remember (fondly).
The best part is if you get other sets, the pieces will fit together to allow you to build much bigger buildings, taller towers, bridges, and even chemical plants. Spare parts of all sorts are available from the manufacturer, Bridge Street Toys.

My son played with a similar toy made by Kenner over 40 years ago. Lego is great as is a meccano set but this toy provides an additional and different construction set with other buildings available as well.

Legos are great, don't get me wrong... but it's a little disappointing when you are expecting 405 pieces to be a lot of legos (it's not). You will need to buy two or three of these to really go to town building. A little underwhelming.
